Hey Ben...Sure Miss you! Often I think of you and the great loss to your family and the world. I will never forget you my friend!
One of those days of thinking of Ben! I sure miss him and his memory is always with me.
May he never be forgotten in our hearts and minds.
Love you Ben!!
I certified Ben in SCUBA when he was at Reed College. I think of him often. Today was one of those days. Love you Ben RIP!
Sometimes when I am in a rut, sleeping until noon on a Saturday and absolutely overwhelmed with life in one's thirties...I think about you. F***... seriously... just f***. Inevitably you too would have become a successful person who was experiencing the same emotion I am now. You would have had more success than I have had...and you would have been able to deal with the demands of that better than I have. I respect you so much...Whenever I speak with those who are 4-6 years older than I am who knew you a lot better than I knew you I am jealous...of the life you lived while you were alive. I hate myself on days like this...it is a good thing....I should...From the stories I have heard, you took every opportunity to travel, to be adventurous and most importantly...being kind came natural to you. F***...you were so young too. Much younger than I have become now. I am an older man but not a better one than you were. As a 17 year old you stayed with me for a whole day when I had a 103 degree fever at outdoor school until my mom was eventually contacted and came to pick me up. YOU WERE 17! A COUNSELOR AT OUTDOOR SCHOOL!!! I am a F****** doctor and don't have that much compassion for my patients to stay at their bedside for multiple hours when they are in bad shape.
My mom still talks about what you did and how kind you were by the way....The day I got sick at outdoor school happened to be the day Seinfeld had its finale (before you could record or download episodes of whatever you wanted whenever you wanted)... so it is a day that is etched in my memory
unlike a lot of you I knew Ben when he was a baby and he was easy going and happy.it pains me to comment so late when bob his dad was,is? a good friend of mine, bob michelle you have my email now still trolling still in juneau.
Happy Birthday, Ben! You are still ever on my mind providing inspiration in so many ways!! I'll be singing in your honor today.
Happy Birthday friend. I miss you, and am so happy I got the time I did. xoxo
Should have had the courage to go to Cuba with you. Glad we made it across the border to Canada. That was a wild trip. Thinking of you as the whales migrate.
My thoughts are with you, Michele, and with Ben. Hold on to the good memories, Michele.
My thoughts are with you, as well as my love,
While Newport was a wonderful community to grow up in, it was also a very small community. As kids we often had to get creative when it came to entertaining ourselves. I remember when the movie 'Spice World' came to Newport, Ben organized a mock-protest with cardboards signs that read 'Spice World - a moral outrage!' He was so much fun. Ben's sense of humor and huge heart are what I remember most.
